#AUSWorldSBK: Vierter Platz rundet erfolgreichen Supersport-Einstand ab

Nach einer schwierigen Vorbereitung auf die neue Saison beendete Marcel Schrötter das erste Rennwochenende auf Phillip Island mit einem zufriedenen Gesichtsausdruck.

Das für diesen Teil Australiens typische wechselhafte Wetter war auch am Sonntagmorgen eine unangenehme Begleiterscheinung, als das Warm-up wegen Nieselregens und einer feuchten Strecke wertlos war. Doch dann klarte der Himmel über dem Phillip Island Circuit auf, der malerisch in einem Naturschutzgebiet liegt. Die Bedingungen waren nahezu perfekt, als das zweite Rennen des Wochenendes am frühen Nachmittag gestartet wurde.

Marcel Schrötter rückte in der Startaufstellung einen Platz vor, da ein Fahrer verletzungsbedingt nicht antreten konnte. Der 30-jährige Bayer konnte dies jedoch nicht ausnutzen. Er beendete die erste Runde nur auf dem siebten Platz. Der MV Agusta-Pilot brauchte einige Runden, um seinen Rhythmus zu finden. Danach holte er einen Konkurrenten nach dem anderen ein, bis er an vierter Stelle liegend, die meiste Zeit allein unterwegs war. Ab der Hälfte der ursprünglich 18-Runden-Distanz unterstrich Schrötter das Potenzial des Gesamtpakets, als er in den verbleibenden Runden gleich schnelle Rundenzeiten wie die Spitzengruppe fuhr. Manchmal war er sogar ein oder zwei Zehntel schneller. Nach 13 Runden musste das Rennen erneut abgebrochen werden. Diesmal waren Gänse auf der Strecke der Grund.

Der zweite Saisonevent findet in einer Woche auf der indonesischen Insel Lombok statt.

#23 Marcel SCHRÖTTER (MV Agusta Reparto Corse, MV Agusta F3 800 RR)

Startplatz: 5 / Rennen 2: P4

"Mein Einstand in dieser Meisterschaft ist gelungen, und das nicht nur wegen des vierten Platzes heute. Ich bin zufrieden, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir erst letzten Montag richtig angefangen haben zu arbeiten und gestern und heute viele wichtige Punkte geholt haben. Aber ganz ehrlich, heute hätte sogar noch ein bisschen mehr herausspringen können, wenn mein Start etwas besser gewesen wäre. Ich muss mich noch mehr an die MV Agusta gewöhnen. Dazu gehört auch der Start, den ich in den Trainings meistens gut hinbekomme. Aber ein Rennstart mit den anderen Motorrädern um einen herum ist noch einmal etwas anderes. Auch hier gibt es noch Nachholbedarf, damit wir beim nächsten Rennen nicht wieder am Anfang zwei oder drei Positionen verlieren. Ausserdem ist die Konkurrenz in den ersten zwei, drei Runden verdammt schnell, wenn die Reifen noch frisch sind und daher unglaublich viel Grip bieten."

"Die ersten drei des heutigen Rennens können im Moment am meisten davon profitieren, das hat man bei den Tests und auch in den Trainings gesehen. Heute waren sie schon nach der zweiten Runde weg. Trotzdem habe ich nie aufgegeben, sondern wollte mich Schritt für Schritt wieder nach vorne kämpfen. Das ist mir auch gelungen, obwohl ich kurzzeitig einen kleinen Abstand zu den Jungs vor mir hatte. Später, als ich meine Gruppe anführte, hoffte ich, wegfahren zu können, denn auf dieser Strecke ist der Windschatten eine grosse Hilfe, um an jemandem dranzubleiben. Ein paar Runden lang konnte ich den Abstand zu den Fahrern hinter mir ganz gut bei 0,4 oder 0,5 Sekunden halten, bis mir meine Crew plötzlich 1,5 Sekunden anzeigte. Von da an wollte ich mein Rennen nur noch fehlerfrei zu Ende fahren. Wenn vorne noch etwas passiert wäre, hätte ich es gerne genommen. Aber P4 ist okay, zumal ich gegen Leute wie Federico Caricasulo gekämpft habe, die jederzeit ein Rennen gewinnen können. Ich war in der Lage, mich gegen einige Kaliber zu behaupten. Ich möchte, dass es so weitergeht, hoffentlich schon am nächsten Wochenende in Indonesien."

EN: Fourth place rounds off successful Supersport debut

After difficult pre-season preparations, Marcel Schrötter closed the first race weekend of the year at Phillip Island with a satisfied look on his face.

The changeable weather typical of this part of Australia was also an unpleasant accompaniment on Sunday morning, when warm-up was worthless due to drizzle and a damp track. But then the skies cleared above the Phillip Island circuit, which is picturesquely situated in a nature reserve. Conditions were almost perfect when the second race of the weekend got underway in the early afternoon.

Marcel Schrötter moved up one place on the starting grid as one rider was unable to compete due to injury. However, the 30-year-old Bavarian rider was unable to take advantage of this. He finished the first lap in seventh place only though, the MV Agusta rider needed a few laps to find his rhythm. After that, he caught up with one competitor after the other until, lying in fourth place, he was racing alone for most of the time. From halfway through the original 18-lap race distance, Schrötter underlined the potential of the overall package when he set lap times as fast as the leading group in the remaining laps. Sometimes he was even a tenth or two faster than them. After 13 laps, the race had to be red flagged again. This time, geese at the track, using it for a Sunday afternoon walk were the reason.

The second event of the season will take place in a week on the Indonesian island of Lombok.

"My debut in this championship has been a success, and not just because of fourth place today. I am satisfied, considering that we only really started working last Monday and scored a lot of important points yesterday and today. But honestly, today could have been even a bit more if my start had been a bit better. I have to get used to the MV Agusta even more. This also includes the start, which I usually managed well in practice. But a race start with the other bikes around you is something else again. Here, too, we still have some catching up to do so that we do not lose two or three positions again at the start of the next race. Besides, the competition is damn fast in the first two or three laps when the tyres are still fresh and therefore offer an incredible amount of grip."

"The top three in today's race can benefit from this the most at the moment, you saw that in testing and also during practice sessions this weekend. Today they were already gone after the second lap. Nevertheless, I never gave up, but foremost wanted to fight my way back to the front step by step. I managed to do that, even though I briefly had a small gap to the guys in front of me. Later, when I was leading my group, I hoped to be able to pull away, because at this track the slipstream is a big help to stay on with someone. For a few laps I was able to keep the gap to the riders behind me quite well at 0.4 or 0.5 seconds, until my crew suddenly showed me 1.5 seconds. From then on, I just wanted to finish my race without making any mistakes. If something had happened at the front, I would have been happy to take it, but P4 is okay, especially since I was fighting against people like Federico Caricasulo, who can win a race at any time. I was able to hold my own against some calibres. I want it to continue like this, hopefully as early as next weekend in Indonesia."
