Obwohl Marcel Schrötter seine Leistung aus dem ersten Rennen nicht ganz wiederholen konnte, war er mit dem Weltmeisterschaftslauf auf der spanischen Rennstrecke MotorLand Aragón zufrieden.

Marcel Schrötter konnte am Sonntag von seinem eigentlichen vierten Startplatz aus starten, den er in der Superpole einfuhr. Aus der zweiten Reihe gelang dem 30-jährigen Deutschen ein ähnlich guter Start wie am Vortag, allerdings fehlte ihm von Beginn an ein wenig das gute Gefühl, mit dem Schrötter am Samstagnachmittag beeindruckte. In einem schnellen Rennen wurde der MV Agusta-Fahrer am Ende Fünfter.

Die Meisterschaft wird am nächsten Wochenende mit dem Besuch auf dem Autódromo Internacional do Algarve unweit der portugiesischen Hafenstadt Portimao im Süden des Landes fortgesetzt.

"Aragon war insgesamt ein solides Wochenende. Wir konnten uns von Session zu Session verbessern. Und das auf einer Strecke, die viele Fahrer in- und auswendig kennen und auf der die Rundenzeiten sehr schnell und auch eng beieinander sind. Der vierte Platz in der Superpole war für unsere Verhältnisse ein gutes Ergebnis, denn da wir wussten, dass wir eine Strafe erhalten hatten, war es extrem wichtig, alles herauszuholen, was wir konnten. Gestern im ersten Rennen hatte ich vom siebten Startplatz aus einen wirklich guten Start, vor allem war die erste Kurve gut, so dass ich schnell auf den fünften Platz vorfahren konnte. Ich war also von Anfang an in einer guten Position, in der ich mitkämpfen konnte, obwohl ich in den ersten Runden meistens Schwierigkeiten habe, dranzubleiben. Doch wie schon so oft wechselte das Rennen ab der Mitte der Distanz auf meine Seite, indem ich noch stärker wurde. In einem starken Zweikampf mit Manzi konnte ich mich am Ende durchsetzen. Der zweite Platz bestätigt ein starkes Rennen und der geringe Rückstand auf Bulega mit nur 3,5 Sekunden zeigt, dass wenn man in der ersten Runde an ihm dranbleiben kann, eine Chance besteht, mit ihm zu kämpfen. Seine Stärke sind die ersten zwei oder drei Runden, in denen er auf und davon fährt und danach kontrolliert er den Abstand nach hinten."

"Aufgrund der gestrigen Leistung bin ich mit entsprechenden Erwartungen in das heutige Rennen gegangen, dass vielleicht mehr möglich sein würde. Am Ende bin ich auch ähnlich gefahren wie gestern, musste aber schnell feststellen, dass ich mich nicht ganz so wohl gefühlt habe. Ich hatte in verschiedenen Bereichen mehr zu kämpfen, es war schwierig für mich, mitzuhalten. Ausserdem war das Tempo einen Tick höher als im ersten Rennen. Hinzu kommt, dass die Pace meiner direkten Gegner ab der Mitte des Rennens gleichgeblieben ist. Das heisst, sie haben sich im Vergleich zu gestern gesteigert. Ich war nicht langsamer, aber die anderen waren ein bisschen schneller. Deshalb war es heute etwas schwierigerer. Wir werden jetzt analysieren, warum Änderungen an der Abstimmung zu einem schlechteren Gefühl geführt haben, um daraus zu lernen. Ansonsten bin ich mit dem Wochenende zufrieden, denn ein Podium ist immer eine tolle Sache. Daran müssen wir anknüpfen, einen weiteren Schritt machen, damit wir hoffentlich in Portimao wieder auf dem Podium stehen."

EN: Another top 5 to round off a solid weekend

Although Marcel Schrötter could not quite repeat his performance from the first race, he left satisfied the Spanish circuit MotorLand Aragón.

On Sunday, Marcel Schrötter could start from his actual fourth grid position, which he took in Superpole. From the second row, the 30-year-old German managed a similarly good start to the previous day, but from the start he lacked a bit of the good feeling with which Schrötter impressed on Saturday afternoon. In a fast race, the MV Agusta rider ended up in fifth place.

The championship continues next weekend with a visit to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve not far from the Portuguese port city of Portimao in the south of the country.

"Aragon was a solid weekend overall. We were able to improve session by session. And we did that at a track that many riders know inside out and where the lap times are very fast and also close together. Fourth place in Superpole was a good result by our standards because, knowing that we had received a penalty, it was extremely important to get everything we could out of it. Yesterday in the first race I had a really good start from seventh on the grid, especially the first corner was good, so I was able to quickly move up to fifth place. So, from the start I was in a good position to fight along, although I usually have trouble staying on in the first laps. But as so often before, the race changed to my side from halfway point of the distance by getting even stronger. In a tight battle with Manzi I was able to prevail in the end. Second place confirms a strong race and the small gap to Bulega with only 3.5 seconds shows that if you can stay on him in the first lap, there is a chance to fight with him. His strength is the first two or three laps where he pulls away and after that he controls the gap to the back."

"Based on yesterday's performance, I went into today's race with corresponding expectations that perhaps more would be possible. In the end, I also performed similarly to yesterday, but I quickly realized that I did not feel quite as comfortable. I struggled more in various areas; it was difficult for me to keep with the guys. In addition, the pace was a tad higher than in the first race, plus the pace of my direct opponents remained the same from the middle of the race. In other words, they improved compared to yesterday. I was not slower, but the others were a bit faster. That is why it was a bit more difficult today. We will now analyze why changes to the set-up led to a worse feeling in order to learn from this. Otherwise, I am happy with the weekend because a podium is always nice. We need to build on that, take another step, so hopefully we'll be back on the podium in Portimao."
