Marcel Schrötter hatte im letzten Rennen der Saison alle Schutzengel auf seiner Seite, als er wegen eines Bremsversagens bei hoher Geschwindigkeit von seiner Rennmaschine springen musste.

Nach dem selbstverschuldeten Sturz im gestrigen Rennen endete Marcel Schrötters Rookie-Saison in der Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft am Sonntag mit einem weiteren Zwischenfall sehr unglücklich. Dennoch hatte er Glück, als in der dritten Runde beim Anbremsen der letzten Kurve die Bremsen versagten. Der 30-jährige Deutsche, der die Meisterschaft als Gesamtdritter abschliesst, kam mit dem Schrecken davon.

Schrötter und sein Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse reisen in den nächsten Tagen zur knapp 400 Kilometer entfernten Rennstrecke von Portimao, wo vor der Winterpause noch ein Test eingelegt wird.

"Es ist schade, dass das Wochenende so zu Ende gegangen ist. Natürlich stellt man sich das Ende der Saison anders vor, zumal ich mich von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt habe, auch wenn der Start ins Wochenende aufgrund der Bedingungen am Freitag nicht ideal war. Aber trotz der wenigen Runden, die wir fahren konnten, waren wir gut dabei. Wir waren sogar besser als an den meisten anderen Wochenenden. Natürlich war Bulega auch dieses Mal wieder überlegen, aber ich habe es in der Superpole aus eigener Kraft in die erste Startreihe geschafft. Das war ein guter Auftakt, bevor wir in die Rennen gingen. Leider verliefen diese blöd. An einem Punkt war ich selbst schuld, was mir sehr leidtut, denn dadurch haben wir unsere Chancen auf den zweiten Platz in der Teamwertung verspielt. Auf jeden Fall war gestern viel Potenzial da, um als Zweiter auf dem Podium zu stehen. Auch heute habe ich mich recht wohl gefühlt, auch wenn es für mich in der Anfangsphase etwas schwieriger war."

"Ich habe mich davon aber nicht beirren lassen, denn meine Stärken kommen erst nach drei oder vier Runden zum Tragen. Leider gab es dann ein Problem mit der Bremse, das mein Rennen abrupt beendete. Obwohl der Ausfall sehr schmerzt, muss ich ehrlich sagen, dass es wichtiger ist, dass alle Schutzengel in dieser Situation bei mir waren. Denn wenn man bei 200 km/h plötzlich keine Bremsen mehr hat und abspringen muss, kann das sehr böse enden. Trotzdem ist es schade, aber wie gesagt, mir geht es gut und das ist das Wichtigste. Also haken wird das Wochenende ab und nehmen das Positive mit. Ich freue mich schon auf nächste Woche, wenn wir in Portimao testen und hoffentlich viele nützliche Daten für die Winterpause sammeln, und dann greifen wir nächstes Jahr wieder an. Vorher aber noch ein grosses Dankeschön an das gesamte Team für die geleistete Arbeit, aber auch an alle Partner, Sponsoren und langjährigen Wegbegleiter, die in jeder Situation hinter mir gestanden haben."

EN: Scare moment survived in one piece

Marcel Schrötter had all guardian angels on his side in the last race of the season when he had to jump off his race bike due to a brake failure at high speed.

After the self-inflicted crash in yesterday's race, Marcel Schrötter's rookie season in Supersport World Championship came to a very unfortunately end on Sunday with another incident. Nevertheless, he was lucky when the brakes failed on the third lap while braking for the final corner. The 30-year-old German rider, who finishes the championship in third place overall, escaped with a scare.

Schrötter and his team MV Agusta Reparto Corse will travel in the next few days to the Portimao circuit, just under 400 kilometres away, where a test will be held before the winter break.

"It is a shame that the weekend ended like this. Of course, you imagine the end of the season differently, especially as I felt very comfortable from the start, even if the start to the weekend was not perfect due to the conditions on Friday. But despite the few laps we were able to do, we were doing well. We were even better than on most other weekends. Of course, Bulega was superior again this time, but I made it onto the front row of the grid in Superpole under my own steam. That was a good start before we went into the races. Unfortunately, these went stupidly. At one point it was my own fault, which I am very sorry about, because it meant we lost our chances of claiming second place in the team standings. In any case, there was a lot of potential yesterday to finish in second place on the podium. I felt quite comfortable today as well, even though it was a bit more difficult for me in the early stages."

"But I did not let that put me off, because my strengths only come into play after three or four laps. Unfortunately, there was then a problem with the brake that abruptly ended my race. Although the retirement hurts a lot, I honestly have to say that it is more important that all the guardian angels were with me in this situation. Because if you suddenly have no brakes at 200 km/h and have to jump off, it can end very badly. Still, it is a shame, but as I said, I am fine and that is the most important thing. So, let's tick off the weekend and take the positive with us. I am looking forward to next week when we test in Portimao and hopefully collect a lot of useful data for the winter break, and then we will attack again next year. But before that, a big thank you to the whole team for all the work they have done, but also to all the partners, sponsors and long-time companions who have stood behind me in every situation."
