Marcel Schrötter konnte seine Enttäuschung nach einem weiteren sechsten Platz im zweiten Misano-Rennen kaum verbergen, obwohl er erneut alles gegeben hat.

Der Rennsonntag auf dem Misano World Circuit nahe der beliebten Urlaubsregion um Rimini an der italienischen Adriaküste begann mit einem kleinen Lichtblick für den ehrgeizigen Marcel Schrötter, als er mit seiner MV Agusta F3 im Warm-up die viertschnellste Rundenzeit fuhr. Der erfahrene Rennfahrer war sich jedoch bewusst, dass dies vor allem den Bedingungen geschuldet war und schraubte deshalb seine Erwartungen nach einem anstrengenden Rennen am Samstagnachmittag aufgrund der heißen Temperaturen für das zweite Rennen zur gleichen Zeit wie gestern herunter.

Im Gegensatz zum ersten Rennen bewältigte Schrötter am Sonntagnachmittag die ersten Abschnitte nach dem Start besser und kam als Siebter aus der ersten Runde zurück. Wenige Runden später überholte er seinen Teamkollegen
Bahattin Sofuoglu. Als Sechster des Rennens hatte der 31-Jährige die Spitzengruppe immer in Sichtweite, konnte den Rückstand aber nie aufholen. In der viertletzten Runde wurde das Rennen wegen eines Sturzes von Sofuoglu an der schnellsten Stelle des Kurses mit der roten Flagge abgebrochen.

Die Meisterschaft wird in vier Wochen mit dem Meeting auf der traditionellen Strecke von Donington Park in Mittelengland fortgesetzt.

"Das Wochenende hier in Misano war bei weitem nicht so, wie wir es erwartet hatten. Wenn man in jedem Rennen um das Podium und letztlich um die Meisterschaft kämpfen will, dann waren wir in jeder Situation zu weit weg. Nur das Warm-up heute Morgen war einigermassen gut. Bei den kühleren
Bedingungen hatten wir durchaus Fortschritte gemacht. Aber bei heissen Temperaturen wie an den Nachmittagen der letzten Tage fehlt uns noch etwas."

"Abgesehen davon begann das Wochenende mit einem komplizierten Freitag. Zuerst zwang uns ein Problem zu einem längeren Boxenstopp und dann passierte die Kollision mit Niccolo Antonelli. Später in der Superpole fehlte uns die Pace und das Gefühl war überhaupt nicht gut. Deshalb waren wir schon nach dem ersten Tag im Rückstand. Es war praktisch unmöglich, bis heute etwas davon aufzuholen. Ich hoffe, dass wir daraus lernen und etwas verstehen können, damit wir in Donington wieder im Spiel sind."

🇬🇧 Sixth place also the maximum on Sunday

Marcel Schrötter could hardly hide his disappointment after another sixth place in the second Misano race, although he once again put in his all.

Race Sunday at the Misano World Circuit near the popular vacation region around Rimini at Italy’s Adriatic coastline began with a small ray of hope for the ambitious Marcel Schrötter when he set fourth-fastest lap time during this morning’s Warm-up session aboard his MV Agusta F3. However, the experienced racer was aware that this was mainly due to the conditions and therefore, he lowered expectations for Race 2 after an exhausting race on Saturday afternoon due to the hot temperatures at the same day time.

In contrast to the first race, however, Schrötter coped better with the first sections after the start on Sunday afternoon and came back from the first lap in seventh place. A few laps later, he passed his team-mate Bahattin Sofuoglu. Riding comfortably in sixth place, the 31-year-old always had the leading group in sight but was never able to close the gap. On lap 15, the race was red-flagged due to a crash by Sofuoglu at the fastest point of the circuit.

The championship continues in four weeks' time with the meeting at the traditional Donington Park circuit in the East Midland of England.

"The weekend here in Misano was nowhere near what we had expected. If you want to fight for the podium in every race and ultimately for the championship, then we were too far away in every situation. Only Warm-up session this morning was reasonably good because in cooler conditions we had made some progress. But in hot temperatures like the afternoons of the last few days, we are still missing something."

"Apart from that, the weekend started with a complicated Friday. First, a problem forced us to a longer pit stop and then the contact with Niccolo Antonelli happened. Later in Superpole we lacked some pace, and the feeling was not good at all. That is why we were already behind after the first day. It was practically impossible to make up any of that ground before today. I hope that we can learn from this and understand something so that we are back in the game at Donington."
