Marcel Schrötter sah am Sonntag die Zielflagge als Dritter, rückte aber nach einer Strafe gegen den Italiener Stefano Manzi um einen Platz vor und übernahm den zweiten Platz in der Punktetabelle.

Marcel Schrötter reist mit einer nahezu perfekten Bilanz von der vierten Station der aktuellen FIM Supersport World Championship ab. Auf den zweiten Startplatz, den er sich mit einer fabelhaften Runde in der Superpole sicherte, folgte der zweite Platz am Samstagnachmittag, den Schrötter im zweiten Rennen des Wochenendes wiederholte.

In einem an Dramatik kaum zu überbietenden Rennen bei guten Bedingungen - trotz zum Teil starker Bewölkung blieb es bis auf ein paar Regentropfen trocken - war Schrötter am Sonntag in jeder Phase des Rennens in der Spitzengruppe in den Kampf um den Sieg verwickelt. Nach einem guten Start reihte er sich in der ersten Kurve an dritter Stelle ein, verlor aber wenig später einige Positionen, die er aber sofort wieder gutmachen konnte.

Kurze Zeit später übernahm Schrötters Teamkollege bei MV Agusta Reparto Corse, der junge Türke Bahattin Sofuoglu, die Führung, dicht gefolgt von Schrötter und dem Italiener Stefano Manzi. Dieses Trio kämpfte bis zum Schluss hart um den Sieg, als Schrötter in der letzten Runde einen Schaltfehler beging und dadurch den direkten Kontakt zu seinen Gegnern verlor. Obwohl er seinen ersten Sieg als WorldSSP-Fahrer erneut knapp verpasste, freute sich Schrötter mit seinem Team und mit Bahattin Sofuoglu über einen grandiosen Doppelerfolg für die italienische Edelmarke MV Agusta.

Die Meisterschaft wird in vier Wochen mit dem Meeting auf dem Misano World Circuit unweit der italienischen Adriaküste fortgesetzt.

"Ich bin happy, weil ich denke, dass es wieder ein gutes Rennen war. Vor allem bin ich froh, dass ich heute die erste Hälfte des Rennens besser gemeistert habe. Das ist mir viel besser gelungen als gestern, auch wenn ich am Anfang wegen eines kleinen Fehlers ein bisschen zurückgefallen bin. Das konnte ich aber schnell wieder wettmachen. Danach habe ich versucht, zu meinem Teamkollegen Bahattin aufzuschliessen, aber auch die Reifen nicht zu sehr zu stressen. In dieser Phase hatte ich das Gefühl, dass ich etwas mehr im Köcher habe. Deshalb habe ich die Führung übernommen und wollte mich mit Bahattin von den anderen absetzen. Aber auf der langen Geraden spielt der Windschatten eine grosse Rolle. Ausserdem hatte ich in der ersten Kurve auf der Bremse leichte Schwierigkeiten. Bahattin und Stefano Manzi hingegen waren dort sehr stark. Das war der entscheidende Faktor dafür, dass ich nicht vorne bleiben und meine Pace fahren konnte."

"Ich muss noch lernen und mich auch wieder daran gewöhnen, denn in Moto2 war ich lange nicht mehr in der Situation, um den Sieg zu kämpfen. In diesem Bereich muss ich also wieder stärker werden. Aber der zweite Platz gestern und jetzt wieder der zweite Platz, auch wenn dieses Mal das Glück auf unserer Seite war, ist eine schöne Bilanz für dieses Wochenende. Es ist nur schade, dass ich zu Beginn der letzten Runde einen kleinen Fehler gemacht habe, als ich in Kurve drei den falschen Gang eingelegt habe. Das hat sich fatal ausgewirkt, weil mir dann der Schwung gefehlt hat. Deshalb war ich auch nicht mehr im Rennen um den Sieg. Trotzdem freue ich mich sehr für das Team, denn unser heutiger Doppelsieg ist eine wirklich starke Sache. Hoffentlich können wir beim nächsten Mal wieder um das Podium kämpfen. Zuvor aber ein grosses Dankeschön an alle für ihre tolle Arbeit und Gratulation an Bahattin, er hatte ein sehr starkes Wochenende."

EN: Twice on the podium as runner-up in Barcelona

Marcel Schrötter saw the chequered flag in third place on Sunday, but moved up one position after a penalty against Italian Stefano Manzi and took over second place in the points table.

Marcel Schrötter departs from the fourth stop of the current FIM Supersport World Championship with an almost perfect record. Second place on the grid, which he secured with a fabulous lap in Superpole, was followed by second place on Saturday afternoon, which Schrötter repeated in the second race of the weekend.

In a thrilling race in good conditions - despite heavy cloud cover in places, it remained dry apart from a few drops of rain - Schrötter was involved in the fight for victory in the leading group at every stage of the race on Sunday. After a good start, he lined up in third place into the first corner, but lost a few positions a bit later, which he was able to make up immediately.

A short time later Schrötter's MV Agusta Reparto Corse team mate, young Turkish rider Bahattin Sofuoglu, took the lead, closely followed by Schrötter and Italian Stefano Manzi. This trio fought hard for the win until the very end, when Schrötter made a shifting error on the last lap and lost direct contact with his opponents as a result. Although he once again narrowly missed out on his first victory as a WorldSSP rider, Schrötter was delighted with his team and with Bahattin Sofuoglu over a fabulous one-two for the noble Italian brand MV Agusta.

The championship continues in four weeks with the meeting at the Misano World Circuit not far from Italy's Adriatic coast.

"I am happy because I think it was another good race. Above all, I am happy that I managed the first half of the race better today. I managed that much better than yesterday, even though I fell back a bit at the beginning because of a small mistake. But I was able to make up for that quickly. After that I tried to catch up with my team mate Bahattin, but also not to stress the tyres too much. At this stage I had the feeling that I had something more in the pocket. That is why I took the lead and wanted to pull away from the others with Bahattin. But on the long straight the slipstream played a big role. I also had slight difficulties on the brakes in the first corner. Bahattin and Stefano Manzi, on the other hand, were very strong there. That was the decisive factor in my not being able to stay in front and rode my pace."

"I still have to learn and also get used to it again, because in Moto2 I have not been in the situation to fight for victory for a long time. So, in this area I need to get stronger again. But second place yesterday and now second place again, even if this time luck was on our side, is a nice balance for this weekend. It is just a shame that I made a small mistake at the start of the last lap when I put in a wrong gear in turn three. That had a fatal effect because I then lacked momentum. That' i why I was no longer in the race for victory. Nevertheless, I am very happy for the team because our one-two today is a really strong thing. Hopefully we can fight for the podium again next time. But before that, a big thank you to everyone for their great work and congratulations to Bahattin, he had a very strong weekend."
