Marcel Schrötter verlängerte seinen Aufenthalt in Italien für einen wichtigen zweitägigen Test auf der Rennstrecke von Cremona. Der 31-Jährige aus Oberbayern hat auch einige Neuigkeiten, auf die sich die deutschen Motorradfans freuen können.

Marcel Schrötter wird beim Grand Prix in Assen und eine Woche später auf dem Sachsenring vor heimischen Publikum Deniz Öncü im renommierten Red Bull KTM Ajo Team ersetzen. Der 19-jährige Türke verletzte sich bei einem Trainingssturz an der linken Hand. Seit Schrötters Wechsel in die Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft ist es nicht das erste Mal, dass der erfahrene Rennfahrer wieder auf einer Moto2-Rennmaschine sitzt. Bei einem einmaligen Test nach dem Grand Prix auf dem Circuito de Jerez Ende April beeindruckte er durch seine sofortige Anpassung an das neue Gesamtpaket und seinen Grundspeed. Überzeugende Argumente also, dass Schrötter für Teamchef Aki Ajo die erste Wahl bei der Suche nach einem Ersatz war.

Nach dem Rennwochenende in Misano ging es für Schrötter und sein Supersport-WM-Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse weiter zum Cremona Circuit, der neu in den Rennkalender der WorldSBK-Serie gekommen ist. Das Rennwochenende wird Mitte September stattfinden. Die Strecke befindet sich etwa 60 Kilometer südlich des Südufers des Gardasees.

Schrötter hatte in Misano eine schwierige Zeit. Mangelndes Gefühl mit seiner MV Agusta F3 war hauptsächlich dafür verantwortlich, dass zwei sechste Plätze das Maximum waren. Beim Test am Mittwoch und Donnerstag dieser Woche lag das Hauptaugenmerk darauf, die Situation wieder zu verbessern.

Ab nächster Woche hat Schrötter ein Mammutprogramm von vier aufeinanderfolgenden Rennwochenenden zu bewältigen. Auf Assen und den Sachsenring folgen die Supersport-WM-Läufe in Donington in Mittelengland und Most in der Tschechischen Republik.

"Wir hatten zwei gute Tage beim Test in Cremona, alles lief sehr gut. Es war auch wichtig, vor dem Rennwochenende im September dort schon gefahren zu sein. Die Strecke macht mit dem Supersport-Motorrad eine Menge Spass. Allerdings gibt es ein oder zwei Kurven, in denen die Sicht auf das Kiesbett, und was dahinter ist, nicht sehr vertrauenswürdig ist. Ansonsten sind die Streckenbedingungen in einem guten Zustand und das Grip-Niveau ist sehr hoch. Die erfreulichste Erkenntnis unserer Arbeit war, dass wir ein Stück weit zu dem zurückgefunden haben, wie ich mich mit dem Motorrad wieder wohler fühle. Die guten Grip-Bedingungen sind uns dabei ein wenig entgegengekommen, denn in diesem Jahr haben wir das Gefühl, dass wir auf Strecken mit weniger Grip mehr Probleme haben. Deshalb hoffe ich, dass dieser Test uns eine bessere Basis für Donington gibt. Alles in allem waren es sehr gute zwei Tage. Aber jetzt freue ich mich auf ein paar freie Tage."

"Die letzten Wochen waren ziemlich anstrengend, und ich habe auch körperlich einiges abbekommen. Deshalb brauche ich etwas Ruhe, denn schon in einer Woche geht es wieder auf die Rennstrecke. Ich bin sehr glücklich darüber, dass ich in Assen und auf dem Sachsenring vorübergehend in die Moto2-Weltmeisterschaft zurückkehren kann. Daher möchte ich mich gleich bei KTM, Red Bull und Aki Ajo bedanken, dass sie mich für diese Aufgaben ausgewählt haben. Mein besonderer Dank gilt auch meinem Teammanager Andrea Quadranti und MV Agusta, die mir die Erlaubnis gegeben haben, dies zu tun. Ohne die Zustimmung aller wäre das nicht möglich gewesen. Dass ich ausgerechnet bei diesen beiden Grand Prix dabei sein kann, ist für mich etwas ganz Besonderes. In Assen vor vielen deutschen Fans zu fahren und dann eine Woche später beim Deutschland-Grand-Prix auf dem Sachsenring, gibt mir schon jetzt ein Gefühl dafür, wie es war, als ich vor zwei Jahren das letzte Mal dort war. Ich freue mich sehr darauf. Trotzdem werde ich ohne Erwartungen in diese Rennwochenenden gehen. Ich will einfach die Zeit geniessen und Spass haben, wieder in Moto2-Klasse zu sein."

Marcel Schrötter extended his stay in Italy for an important two-day test at the Cremona Circuit. The 31-year-old from Upper Bavaria also has some news that German motorcycle race fans will cheer.

Marcel Schrötter will replace Deniz Öncü in World Championship winning team for the last three years, Red Bull KTM Ajo, at the Grand Prix in Assen and a week later at the Sachsenring in front of his home crowd. The 19-year-old Turkish rider injured his left hand in a training crash. Öncü, meanwhile, underwent a successful surgery at home in Turkey.

Since Schrötter's switch to Supersport World Championship, this won’t be the first time that the experienced racer will return aboard a Moto2 bike. During a one-off test after the Grand Prix at the Circuito de Jerez at the end of April, he impressed with his immediate adaptation to the new overall package and his basic speed. Convincing arguments, therefore, that Schrötter was the first choice for team boss Aki Ajo in the search for a substitute rider.

After the race weekend in Misano, Schrötter and his team in FIM Supersport World Championship, MV Agusta Reparto Corse, moved over to the Cremona Circuit, which is a new addition to the WorldSBK series’ calendar. The race weekend will take place in mid-September. The circuit is located around 60 kilometres south of the southern shore of Lake Garda.

Schrötter had a difficult time in Misano. A lack of feeling with his MV Agusta F3 was mainly responsible for the fact that two sixth places was the maximum last weekend. During the test last Wednesday and Thursday, the main focus was on improving that situation again.

Starting next week, Schrötter has a mammoth program of four consecutive race weekends to tackle. Assen and the Sachsenring will be followed by the Supersport World Championship events at Donington Park in England’s East Midlands region and Most in the Czech Republic.

"We had two good days of testing in Cremona, everything went very well. It was also important to have ridden there before the race weekend in September. The track provides a lot of fun with the Supersport bike. However, there are one or two corners where the view to the run-off area and what is behind it is not very trustworthy. Otherwise, the track conditions are in good condition and the grip level is very high. The most pleasing outcome of our work was that we have found a way back to how I feel more comfortable with the bike. The good grip conditions have helped us a bit, because this year we have the feeling that we have more problems at tracks with less grip. I therefore hope that this test will give us a better base to start in Donington. All in all, it was a very good two days. But now I am looking forward to a few days off."

"The last few weeks have been pretty exhausting, and I have also taken quite a beating physically. That is why I need some rest urgently now though; I will be back in race mode in a week's time already. I am very happy that I can return to Moto2 World Championship in Assen and at the Sachsenring, even if it is temporarily. I would like therefore to express my thanks to KTM, Red Bull and Aki Ajo for choosing me for these tasks. My special thanks also go to my team manager Andrea Quadranti and MV Agusta for giving me permission to do this. It would not have been possible without everyone's approval. The fact that I can race at these two Grand Prix of all places is something very special for me. Riding in front of many German fans first in Assen and then a week later at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring already gives me a feeling of what it was like the last time I was there two years ago. I am really looking forward to it. Nevertheless, I will go into these race weekends without any expectations. Foremost, I just want to enjoy the time and have fun being in Moto2 again."
