Marcel Schrötter wird an diesem, sowie auch am nächsten Wochenende eine ganz besondere Ehre zuteil, wenn er zunächst bei der historischen TT Assen den verletzten Deniz Öncü ersetzt und dessen Rennmaschine vom Weltmeisterteam der letzten drei Jahre, Red Bull KTM Ajo, übernimmt.

Für den 31-jährigen Marcel Schrötter war es eine Überraschung, als ihn Teamchef Aki Ajo vor knapp zwei Wochen anrief und fragte, ob er in Assen und auf dem Sachsenring anstelle von Deniz Öncü fahren wolle. Schrötter war sofort begeistert, konnte aber aufgrund seiner Verpflichtungen mit MV Agusta in der Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft nicht selbst zusagen. Es dauerte jedoch nicht lange, bis sich alle Beteiligten einig waren. Ein Grund dafür war, dass MV Agusta nun zur Pierer Mobility AG mit den Marken KTM, Husqvarna und GASGAS gehört.
Mit Schrötter in der Starterliste haben die Organisatoren in Assen nun einen weiteren Trumpf in der Hand, viele spontane deutsche Fans zu motivieren, den Katzensprung über die norddeutsche Grenze zu den Nachbarn in den Niederlanden zu machen.

In Deutschland sind die Übertragungen am Samstag und Sonntag in einem kostenlosen Live-Stream auf ServusTV.com zu sehen, während DF1 auch das Moto2-Qualifying und das Rennen am Sonntag live überträgt. Alternativ gibt es auch den Live-Stream auf der offiziellen MotoGP-Website, wo wie bei jedem Grand Prix alle Sessions aller Klassen gestreamt werden. Hierfür ist allerdings ein kostenpflichtiger Videopass erforderlich. Eine weitere Option für Deutschland ist ein kostenpflichtiges Abonnement bei Sky Sport. Für Zuschauer aus der Schweiz und Österreich sind alle Sessions des Wochenendes zu sehen, nämlich auf der Video- und Streaming-Plattform «ServusTV On», allerdings mit englischem Kommentar.

"Um ehrlich zu sein, bin ich einfach überwältigt, dieses und nächstes Wochenende in die Moto2-Weltmeisterschaft zurückzukehren. Es ist auch etwas ganz Besonderes, weil das Weltmeisterteam der letzten drei Jahre, Red Bull KTM Ajo, mich für diese Rolle ausgewählt hat. "Assen mit den vielen deutschen Fans auf den Tribünen wird mir sicherlich einen Vorgeschmack auf den Sachsenring geben. Das wird ein absolutes Highlight für mich, denn diese einzigartige Atmosphäre vermisse ich ein wenig in der Supersport-WM. Ich freue mich also sehr darauf, dort wieder dabei zu sein und das erleben zu dürfen und auch auf diese Aufgaben, denn die Situation ist ein bisschen anders als sonst, weil ich nichts beweisen muss. Natürlich will man als Sportler immer sein Bestes geben und ich werde versuchen, das Maximum aus mir herauszuholen. Dennoch nehme ich die Situation gelassen und freue mich, wieder im Grand-Prix-Sport zu sein. Ich werde einfach versuchen, die nächsten beiden Wochenenden so gut wie möglich zu geniessen."

EN: Moto2 return at Assen’s «Cathedral of Speed»

Marcel Schrötter will have a very special honour this weekend, as well as next weekend, when he replaces injured Deniz Öncü at the historic TT Assen to takes over his bike in the world champion winning team of the last three years, Red Bull KTM Ajo.

It was a surprise for 31-year-old Marcel Schrötter when team boss Aki Ajo called him almost two weeks ago and asked if he would like to ride in Assen and at the Sachsenring instead of Deniz Öncü. Schrötter was immediately enthusiastic but was unable to commit himself due to his commitments with MV Agusta in Supersport World Championship. However, it didn't take long for everyone involved to come to an agreement. One reason for this was that MV Agusta now belongs to Pierer Mobility AG with the brands KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS.

With almost local hero Schrötter on the grid, the organizers in Assen now have another joker in their hand to motivate many more spontaneous German fans to make the short hop across the northern German border to their neighbours in the Netherlands.

"To be honest, I am just overwhelmed to be returning to Moto2 World Championship this and next weekend. Beyond that it is also very special because the world champion winning team of the last three years, Red Bull KTM Ajo, chose me for that. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone again who made this possible: Aki Ajo, KTM, Andrea Quadranti and MV Agusta, for their approval, which was necessary. My thanks also go to Red Bull, because it is a great honour for me to have been chosen for being Deniz’ substitute in Aki Ajo's team. That makes me very happy. The fact that this has come about for the two events in Assen and at the Sachsenring makes the whole thing even more special."

"Assen with the many German fans at the grandstands will certainly give me a taste of what I’ll relive again at the Sachsenring. That will be an absolute highlight for me, because I miss this unique atmosphere a bit in Supersport World Championship. So, I am really looking forward to being there again and being able to experience that and also to these tasks, because the situation is a bit different than usual because I do not have to prove anything. Of course, as an athlete you always want to give your best and I will try to get the maximum out of myself. Nevertheless, I am taking the situation in my stride and am happy to be back in Grand Prix racing these days. I will just try to enjoy the next two weekends as much as possible."
