Marcel Schrötter stürmte am Freitag in Jerez mit einer brillanten Leistung zum zweiten Mal in diesem Jahr auf den dritten Startplatz.

Anders als am vergangenen Freitag in Estoril konnten sich Teams und Fahrer im morgendlichen freien Training bei guten Bedingungen sofort auf die Vorbereitungen auf die letzten beiden Rennen der Saison stürzen. Marcel Schrötter und seine MV Agusta F3 präsentierten sich von Beginn in guter Form in Südspanien. Der sechste Platz in FP1 machte Hoffnung auf mehr.

In der Superpole am Nachmittag setzte Schrötter fünf Minuten vor Ende der Session eine 1´42.364 und führte damit den hart umkämpften Wettbewerb in der FIM Supersport World Championship vorrübergehend an. Ein harmloser Ausrutscher verhinderte, dass er seine Zeit in den letzten Minuten noch einmal verbessern konnte. Dennoch freute sich der 31-jährige Deutsche über den dritten Startplatz beim Saisonfinale. Es war eine lange Durststrecke für Schrötter, der zuletzt beim Saisonauftakt Ende Februar in Australien ein solches Superpole-Ergebnis feiern konnte.

"Ich bin glücklich, denn das war zum ersten Mal seit langer Zeit ein toller Start ins Wochenende. Es war mehr als ein gelungener Auftakt, sondern auch eine super Superpole von mir. Ich glaube nicht, dass es vermessen ist, das zu sagen, denn wir hatten heute Nachmittag auch einige kleinere Probleme. Am Ende hatten wir nur noch einen Reifen, mit dem es klappen musste. Mit meiner Runde und der Zeit bin ich sehr zufrieden, und der Startplatz in der ersten Reihe tut auf jeden Fall sehr gut. Es ist ein sehr schönes Gefühl, wieder einmal ganz in der Nähe der Spitze zu sein. Gleichzeitig ist es aber auch eine Erleichterung, nicht nur für mich, sondern auch für meine Jungs in der Box und für alle anderen, am letzten Rennwochenende der Saison zumindest im ersten Rennen von da vorne zu starten. Ich hoffe, dass wir für morgen Nachmittag und auch für Sonntag eine gute Abstimmung finden, die gut funktioniert, damit wir über die gesamte Distanz konkurrenzfähig sind und am Ende noch zwei starke Rennen haben."

EN: Front row comeback at the season’s finale

Performing superbly on Friday in Jerez, Marcel Schrötter stormed to third place on the grid for the second time this year.

Unlike last Friday in Estoril, teams and riders were able to get straight down to preparations for the last two races of the season in the morning free practice session thanks to good conditions. Marcel Schrötter and his MV Agusta F3 were in good shape right from the start in southern Spain. Sixth place in FP1 gave hope for more.

In Superpole in the afternoon, Schrötter set a 1'42.364 five minutes before the end of the session and thus temporarily led the hard-fought competition in the FIM Supersport World Championship. A harmless fall prevented him from improving his time again in the very last minutes. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old German was delighted with his third place on the grid at the season’s finale. It was a long dry spell for Schrötter, who last celebrated such a Superpole result at the season opener in Australia at the end of February.

"I am happy because that was a great start to the weekend for the first time in a long time. It was more than just a successful start, but also a great Superpole from me. I do not think it is presumptuous to say that, because we also had some minor problems this afternoon. In the end, we only had one tyre left and it had to work with it. I am very happy with my lap and also the time and starting on the front row is definitely very good. It is a very nice feeling to be close to the front once again. At the same time, it is also a huge relief, not only for me but also for my guys in the garage and for everyone else, to start from the front on the last race weekend of the season, at least in the Race 1. I hope that we can find a proper set-up for tomorrow afternoon and also for Sunday that works well so that we can be competitive over the entire distance and still have two strong races at the end."
