Marcel Schrötter beendete die Meisterschaft am Sonntag mit einem fünften Platz im letzten Rennen des Jahres und verabschiedete sich nach einem starken Auftritt beim Saisonfinale gebührend von seinem Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse.

Der letzte Renntag des Jahres in der FIM Supersport World Championship auf dem Circuito de Jerez in Südspanien hatte noch einiges an Dramatik zu bieten. Für Marcel Schrötter stand noch der vierte Platz in der Gesamtwertung auf dem Spiel.

Schrötter erwischte auch am Sonntag einen mega-schnellen Start, wie das 10-minütige Warm-up am Vormittag zeigte. Eine rote Flagge verhinderte zwar eine mögliche Bestzeit, aber die drittschnellste Rundenzeit liess auch für die finale Punktejagd am Nachmittag hoffen. Im Rennen jedoch kostete die Anfangsphase Schrötter ein besseres Ergebnis als den fünften Platz nach 17 Runden, in denen er alles daransetzte, nach vorne zu kommen, wo sein Konkurrent im Kampf um den vierten Platz in der Meisterschaft, der Franzose Valentin Debise, unterwegs war.

Nach zwei Saisons verabschiedet sich Marcel Schrötter von seinem Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse. Der 31-jährige Deutsche wird auch 2025 wieder in der Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft antreten. Der Teamwechsel und die Vertragsunterzeichnung sollen in Kürze erfolgen. Die neue Meisterschaft beginnt Mitte Februar mit dem Saisonauftakt auf Phillip Island in Australien.

"Alles in allem war es ein gutes letztes Rennen der Saison. Was die Rundenzeiten angeht, die Zweikämpfe und Überholmanöver und die fünf Sekunden Rückstand auf den Sieger, ist alles in Ordnung. Aber auch heute waren es wieder die ersten drei oder vier Runden, in denen sich der Rückstand auftat. Danach war meine Pace sehr ähnlich wie die des Siegers. Dennoch muss ich einen dicken Brocken schlucken, denn mein neuer Teamkollege hat mich geschlagen. Fairerweise muss ich aber sagen, dass Bo ein sehr starkes Rennen gefahren ist. Er war der Einzige in der Spitzengruppe, der zeitweise schneller war als alle anderen und die Lücken schliessen konnte. Respekt für diese starke Leistung, auch wenn sie für mich nicht ideal ist. Abgesehen davon war es ein solides Rennen und ich bin mit meiner Leistung zufrieden. Meine Rundenzeiten waren nicht schlecht, aber mir fehlte am Nachmittag bei den wärmeren Bedingungen einfach noch ein bisschen mehr. Im Warm-up hingegen war ich mega-schnell."

"Bei den morgendlichen Bedingungen, wenn die Strecke mehr Grip hat, fühle ich mich viel stärker und kann mit dem Motorrad machen, was ich will. Aber sobald es wärmer wurde und mir der Grip fehlte, war es schwieriger für mich, die Situation zu meistern. Trotzdem war es mit einem vierten und einem fünften Platz ein ordentlicher Saisonabschluss für mich. Natürlich war es schade, dass es nicht für das Podium gereicht hat, wo wir eigentlich sein sollten, aber nach dieser Saison war es ein solider Abschluss. Es war ein gutes Ergebnis für das Team und für MV Agusta, worüber ich sehr glücklich bin. Jetzt ist es an der Zeit, mich bei allen für alles zu bedanken, bei meiner Crew und auch bei MV Agusta. Es waren zwei grossartige Jahre mit ihnen. Nächstes Jahr geht es weiter, aber in anderen Farben. Vorher wünsche ich allen das Allerbeste für ihre Zukunft. Ich freue mich schon auf das Jahr 2025! Abschliessend möchte ich Adrian Huertas zum Titelgewinn gratulieren. Er hatte eine starke Saison und ist verdient Weltmeister geworden."

#EN:Complicated 2024 comes to a tidy end

Marcel Schrötter finished the championship on Sunday with a fifth place in the last race of the year and said a fitting farewell to his team MV Agusta Reparto Corse after a strong performance at the season’s finale.

The last race day of the year in FIM Supersport World Championship at the Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain still had plenty of drama to offer. For Marcel Schrötter, fourth place in the overall standings was still at stake.

Schrötter also got off to a mega-fast start on Sunday, as the 10-minute warm-up in the morning showed. A red flag prevented him to top the session, but third-fastest lap time also gave hope for the very last points chase in the afternoon. In the race, however, the early stages cost Schrötter a better result than fifth place after 17 laps, in which he did everything he could to get to the front, where his rival in the battle for fourth place in the points table, Frenchman Valentin Debise, was racing.

After two seasons, Marcel Schrötter says goodbye to his team MV Agusta Reparto Corse. The 31-year-old German will compete in the Supersport World Championship again in 2025. The change of team and the signing of the contract are expected to take place shortly. The new championship begins in mid-February with the season opener at Phillip Island in Australia.

"All in all, it was a good last race of the season. As far as the lap times are concerned, the battles and overtaking manoeuvres and the five-second gap to the winner, everything is fine. But again today, it was the first three or four laps where the gap opened. After that, my pace was very similar to that of the winner. Nevertheless, I have to swallow a big chunk, because my new team-mate beat me. To be fair, though, I have to say that Bo rode a very strong race. He was the only one in the leading group who was faster than everyone else at times and was able to close the gaps. Respect for this strong performance, even if it is not ideal for me. Apart from that, it was a solid race, and I am happy with my performance. My lap times were not bad, but I just lacked a bit more in the afternoon in the warmer conditions. In warm-up, on the other hand, I was mega-fast."

"In the morning conditions, when the track’s surface offers more grip, I feel much stronger and can do what I want with the bike. But as soon as it got warmer and I lacked grip, it was more difficult for me to master the situation. Nevertheless, it was a decent end to the season for me with a fourth and a fifth place. Of course, it was a shame that it was not enough for the podium, where we should have been, but after this season it was a solid conclusion. It was a good result for the team and for MV Agusta, which I am very happy about. Now it is time to thank everyone for everything, my crew and also MV Agusta. It has been a great two years with them. Next year I will continue, but in different colours. Before that, I wish everyone the very best for the future. I am already looking forward to 2025! Finally, I would like to congratulate Adrian Huertas on winning the title. He had a strong season and deserved to become world champion."
