Marcel Schrötter hatte am Samstag in Aragón alle Hände voll zu tun, um sich am Ende des Tages zwei Punkte auf seinem WM-Konto gutschreiben zu lassen.

Der 32-jährige Marcel Schrötter kämpft weiterhin verbissen um seine Rückkehr in die Top 5 der hart umkämpften Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft. Das erste Rennen beim zehnten Saisonmeeting im MotorLand Aragón, Spanien, das er aus der sechsten Startreihe begann, wurde noch dazu durch eine rücksichtslose Aktion eines Konkurrenten zusätzlich erschwert. Nach 15 strapaziösen Runden überquerte Schrötter schliesslich als 14. die Ziellinie.

Das zweite Rennen wird am Sonntag zur gleichen Zeit wie heute um 12:35 Uhr MESZ gestartet.

«Das erste Rennen des Wochenendes war keine einfache Angelegenheit, obwohl ich mich etwas stabiler fühlte und gegen Ende des Rennens etwas konkurrenzfähiger war. Es gab aber auch eine kritische Situation, als ein anderer Fahrer sehr aggressiv überholte und ich deshalb weit nach aussen gedrängt wurde. Dadurch verlor ich auf einen Schlag drei Positionen. Nichtsdestotrotz werden wir versuchen, uns für morgen zu verbessern, damit das zweite Rennen einen soliden Abschluss der Reise nach Aragón bildet.»

32-year-old Marcel Schrötter continues to fight hard for his return to the top 5 in the highly competitive Supersport World Championship. After 15 gruelling laps, Schrötter finally crossed the finish line in 14th place.

«The first race of the weekend was not an easy affair, although I felt a little bit more stable and was somewhat more competitive towards the end of the race. However, there was also a critical situation when another rider overtook very aggressively, and I was pushed far to the outside as a result. This caused me to lose three positions in one fell swoop. Nevertheless, we will try to improve for tomorrow so that the second race will be a solid conclusion to the trip to Aragón.»
