Marcel Schrötter kann schon jetzt seine Emotionen vor dem Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland kaum verbergen, wenn er wieder Deniz Öncü im Red Bull KTM Ajo Team ersetzt.

Nur eine Woche nach seinem gelungenen Einstand als Ersatz für den verletzten Deniz Öncü in Assen wird Marcel Schrötter an diesem Wochenende zum zweiten Mal in «Orange» auf einer Rennstrecke unterwegs sein. Dass es sich bei dieser Gelegenheit ausgerechnet um den Heim-Grand-Prix des 31-jährigen Bayern handelt, verleiht der Sache eine besondere Würze.

Für Schrötter ist es nicht nur eine grosse Ehre, vom Weltmeisterteam der letzten drei Jahre für diese Rolle ausgewählt worden zu sein, sondern auch ein ganz besonderes Ereignis, wieder vor der einzigartigen Kulisse eines Heimrennens antreten zu dürfen. Bei seinen letzten Starts als Moto2™-WM-Fahrer zeigte er jeweils auf einer Welle der Begeisterung der Fans sehr starke Leistungen. 2022 verpasste Schrötter in einer unglaublichen Hitzeschlacht als Vierter das Podium nur um Haaresbreite. 2019 hingegen feierte er als Dritter sein Heimpodium und 2021 wurde er Sechster.

In Deutschland sind die Übertragungen am Samstag und Sonntag in einem kostenlosen Live-Stream auf ServusTV.com zu sehen, während DF1 auch das Moto2-Qualifying und das Rennen am Sonntag live überträgt. In Österreich berichtet ServusTV im Free-TV sehr umfangreich vom Sachsenring. Alternativ gibt es auch den Live-Stream auf der offiziellen MotoGP-Website, wo wie bei jedem Grand Prix alle Sessions aller Klassen gestreamt werden. Hierfür ist allerdings ein kostenpflichtiger Videopass erforderlich. Eine weitere Option für Deutschland ist ein kostenpflichtiges Abonnement bei Sky Sport. Für Zuschauer aus der Schweiz und Österreich sind alle Sessions des Wochenendes zu sehen, nämlich auf der Video- und Streaming-Plattform «ServusTV On», allerdings mit englischem Kommentar.

"Es war schon immer so, dass es für einen deutschen Fahrer das absolute Highlight der Saison ist, bei seinem Heim-Grand-Prix auf dem Sachsenring zu sein. Aber dieses Mal ist es für mich etwas ganz Besonderes, denn mit den beiden Möglichkeiten, wieder Moto2 zu fahren, letzte Woche in Assen und vor allem auf dem Sachsenring, finde ich es mega-cool. Es ist schwer zu beschreiben, wie die Gefühle und Eindrücke in den letzten Jahren waren, als ich noch dazu recht erfolgreich war. Die Unterstützung der Fans ist unglaublich, man fühlt sich für ein Wochenende wie ein kleiner Held, was auch sehr guttut. Ich denke, das muss auch einmal gesagt werden. Ich freue mich also sehr auf dieses Wochenende, auch wenn die Ziele andere sind als für einen Fahrer, der permanent in der Moto2-Weltmeisterschaft fährt."

"Mein Ziel ist es einfach, mit dem fortzufahren, was wir letztes Wochenende gelernt haben und wie ich mich bisher mit dem Motorrad angefreundet habe, und hoffentlich können wir am Freitag mit anderen Voraussetzungen loslegen. Der Sachsenring ist eine Strecke, die mir in meinen letzten Moto2-Jahren sehr gut lag. Vielleicht wird uns das helfen, am Sonntag in einer Position zu sein, in der wir um Punkte kämpfen können. Ich denke, jeder weiss, wie unglaublich schwierig diese Klasse ist. Selbst in normalen Situationen ist es keine Selbstverständlichkeit, immer in die Punkte zu fahren. Aber wenn uns das gelingt, dann, denke ich, können alle Beteiligten zufrieden sein. Vor allem aber ich. Ich werde auch alles tun, um den Fans auf den Tribünen, die mich anfeuern und unterstützen werden, ein cooles Rennen zu bieten. Ich will das Wochenende einfach nur geniessen!"

EN: Great anticipation for the season’s highlight at the Sachsenring

Marcel Schrötter can hardly hide his emotions ahead of this weekend’s Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland when he replaces Deniz Öncü in Red Bull KTM Ajo again.

Just one week after his successful debut as a replacement for injured Deniz Öncü in Assen, Marcel Schrötter will be riding at a race track in «Orange» for the second time this weekend. The fact that this will be the 31-year-old Bavarian's home Grand Prix adds a special spice to the occasion.

For Schrötter, it is not only a great honour to have been selected for this role by the world champion winning team of the last three years, but also a very special event to be able to compete again in front of the unique backdrop of a home race. In his last starts as a Moto2™ World Championship rider, he performed very strongly on a wave of enthusiasm from the fans. In 2022, Schrötter missed the podium by a hair's breadth in fourth place in what a race effected by incredible hot temperatures. In 2019, on the other hand, he celebrated his home podium in third place and finished sixth in 2021.

In addition to Schrötter, MotoGP™ HRC test rider Stefan Bradl and Lukas Tulovic in MotoE™ World Championship, a total of three German riders will be competing at the Sachsenring this time.

"It has always been the case that it is the absolute highlight of the season for a German rider to race at his home Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. But this time it is something very special for me, because with the two opportunities for me to ride in Moto2 again, last week in Assen and especially at the Sachsenring, feelings about this fact are mega-cool. It is hard to describe what the feelings and impressions were like in the last few years when I was also quite successful. The support from the fans is unbelievable, you feel like a little hero for a weekend, which is also very good. I think that needs to be said once. So, I am really looking forward to this weekend, even if the goals are different than for a rider who is permanently competing in Moto2 World Championship."

"My aim is just to continue with what we learned last weekend and how I have got on with the bike so far, and hopefully we can start on Friday with different conditions. The Sachsenring is a track that suited me very well in my last Moto2 years. Maybe that will help us to be in a position to fight for points on Sunday. I think everyone knows how incredibly difficult this class is. Even in normal situations, it is not a matter of course to always finish in the points. But if we manage to do that, then I think everyone involved can be satisfied. Especially me. I also will do everything I can to give the fans at the grandstands, who will be cheering me on and supporting me, a cool race. I just want to enjoy this unique weekend!"
