Marcel Schrötter konnte nach der guten Superpole am Freitag den Schwung mit in das erste Rennen in Cremona nehmen – starker Vierter am Samstagnachmittag.

Das Debüt-Rennwochenende des Cremona Circuit in Norditalien verlief bisher ganz nach dem Geschmack von Marcel Schrötter, der schon seit einiger Zeit auf einen Aufwärtstrend hofft. Beim Meeting der FIM Supersport World Championship auf dem kleinen Rundkurs im Städtedreieck Cremona im Westen, Brescia im Norden und Parma im Süden zeigen Schrötter und sein Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse gute Ansätze, ihr normales Leistungsniveau wieder zu erreichen.

Das heutige Rennen war für den erfahrenen 32-jährigen Rennfahrer aus Oberbayern allerdings nicht besonders aufregend. Er verteidigte seine Position am Start, setzte sich nach wenigen Runden von seinen direkten Verfolgern ab und holte etwa ab dem zweiten Renndrittel den vor ihm fahrenden Franzosen Lucas Mahias ein und überholte ihn. Anschliessend machte Schrötter Boden auf den Italiener Federico Caricasulo gut, der sechs Runden vor Schluss stürzte. Damit war der Weg frei für die lang ersehnte Top-5-Platzierung. Einziger Wermutstropfen für Schrötter: Da er die siebtschnellste Rundenzeit des Rennens fuhr, steht er für das zweite Rennen am Sonntag in der dritten Startreihe.

"Nach einem guten Freitag können wir uns heute endlich wieder über ein gutes Rennen freuen. Es war das beste Rennen seit Barcelona. Allerdings ist der vierte Platz derzeit und war auch heute das Maximum, das wir erreichen können. Für das Podium, das wir natürlich anstreben, reicht es noch nicht, aber es war auf jeden Fall ein Schritt nach vorne und damit müssen wir zufrieden sein. Jetzt müssen wir sehen, ob wir für morgen ein paar Dinge verbessern können, denn es gab etwas, wo ich mich nicht so wohl gefühlt habe, heute. Trotzdem gibt das bisherige Wochenende hier in Cremona allen einen Motivationsschub, und wir werden versuchen, das Motorrad ein wenig zu verändern, damit das Gefühl noch ein Stück besser wird. Dann geht es darum, morgen zumindest die gleiche Position zu erreichen."

EN: Continuing rise in level of performance

After a good Superpole on Friday, Marcel Schrötter was able to take the momentum into the first race in Cremona finishing in a strong fourth place on Saturday afternoon.

The debut race weekend at the Cremona Circuit in northern Italy has gone so far very much to the liking of Marcel Schrötter, who has been hoping for an upward trend for some time now. At the FIM Supersport World Championship meeting at the small circuit in the city triangle of Cremona in the west, Brescia in the north and Parma in the south, Schrötter and his MV Agusta Reparto Corse team are showing good signs of returning to their normal level of performance.

However, today's race was not particularly exciting for the experienced 32-year-old racer from Upper Bavaria. He defended his position at the start, pulled away from his direct opponents after a few laps and caught up with and overtook the Frenchman Lucas Mahias ahead of him from around the second third of the race. Schrötter then made-up ground on Italian Federico Caricasulo, who crashed six laps before the end. This paved the way for the long-awaited top 5 finish. The only downer for Schrötter: as he set the seventh fastest lap time in the race which is why he will be on the third row of the grid for the second race on Sunday.

"After a good Friday, we can be happy about another good race today finally. It was the best race since Barcelona. However, fourth place is currently the maximum, and it was today so, that we can achieve. It is still not enough for the podium, which is of course what we're aiming for, but it was definitely a step forward and we have to be satisfied with that. Now we have to see if we can improve a few things for tomorrow, because there were some areas I did not feel so comfortable today. Nevertheless, the weekend so far here in Cremona gives everyone a boost of motivation and we will try to change the bike a bit so that the feeling is a bit better. Then the aim is to reach the same position tomorrow at least."
