Trotz guter Arbeit beim Test vor zwei Wochen in Misano erlebte Marcel Schrötter einen problematischen ersten Trainingstag beim Besuch der Meisterschaft in der Nähe der Urlaubsregion um Rimini.

Der Misano World Circuit, nicht weit von der italienischen Adriaküste entfernt, ist an diesem Wochenende Gastgeber der FIM Supersport World Championship, nachdem die WM-Runde in Assen fast zwei Monate zurückliegt. Bei viel freundlicheren Bedingungen als in den Niederlanden im April wollten Marcel Schrötter und sein in Norditalien stationiertes Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse Team anders loslegen, um wieder in den Rennmodus kommen.

Schrötter konnte das freie Training am späten Vormittag erst nach einer langen Zwangspause in der Box richtig beginnen. Zudem endete die Session mit einer Schrecksekunde für den 31-Jährigen aus Oberbayern, als ein anderer Fahrer kurz vor Ende der Session in der zweiten Kurve, ohne auf den Verkehr zu achten, zurück auf die Strecke fuhr. Dabei kreuzte er die Linie von Schrötter. Beide stürzten, blieben aber glücklicherweise unverletzt. In der Superpole am Nachmittag bei deutlich wärmeren Temperaturen hatte der MV Augusta-Pilot mit vielen Schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen, die ihn daran hinderten, seine Rundenzeiten weiter zu verbessern. Schrötter wird das Rennen am Samstagnachmittag von Platz 12 aus der vierten Reihe in Angriff nehmen müssen.

Das erste Rennen des Wochenendes wird am Samstag um 15:15 Uhr gestartet und kann live über den kostenlosen Streaming-Dienst von ServusTV verfolgt werden. Eine Alternative ist der Live-Stream auf der offiziellen WorldSBK-Website, für den ein Video-Pass erworben werden muss.

"Das war ein bescheidener Start, denn wenn man vor dem Rennwochenende zum Testen hier war, stellt man sich das ganz anders vor. Es begann mit einer Situation im ersten Training, die nicht passieren sollte. Fehler können passieren, aber solche sollten eigentlich vermieden werden. Deshalb haben wir gut 20 Minuten wichtige Trainingszeit verloren. Am Ende hatte ich auch noch Pech, als ich gegen Ende von FP1 auf einer guten Runde war. Doch leider hat mir diese ein unvorsichtiger Konkurrent vermasselt. Im Qualifying ging es weiter, wir hatten mit einer Menge Probleme zu kämpfen. Das Motorrad verhält sich im Moment nicht so, wie ich es mir wünsche. Die Situation ist enttäuschend und ich hoffe, dass wir für morgen etwas finden, das uns weiterbringt."

EN: Difficult re-start after the long break

Despite positive findings during the test two weeks ago in Misano, Marcel Schrötter experienced a challenging Friday at the championship’s visit to the vacation region around Rimini.

The Misano World Circuit, not far from the Italian Adriatic coast, is hosting the FIM Supersport World Championship this weekend after almost two months since its last round in Assen. In much friendlier conditions than in the Netherlands in April, Marcel Schrötter and his team MV Agusta Reparto Corse based in northern Italy were keen to get back into race mode.

However, Schrötter was only able to properly start free practice session later this morning after a long-forced wait in the team’s garage. In addition, the session ended with a moment of shock for the 31-year-old rider from Upper Bavaria shortly before the end of the session when another rider returned back on track in turn two without paying attention to the traffic. In doing so, he crossed Schrötter's line. Both crashed, but fortunately remained uninjured. During this afternoon’s Superpole, in much warmer temperatures, the MV Augusta rider had to contend with many difficulties that prevented him from further improving his lap times. Schrötter will have to start Saturday afternoon's race from P12 on the fourth row.

The first race of the weekend will start at 15:15 on Saturday and can be watched live via the free ServusTV streaming service. An alternative is the live stream on the official WorldSBK website, for which a video pass must be purchased.

"That was a modest start, because when you've been here for testing before the race weekend, you imagine it to turn out very different. It started with a situation in the first practice session that shouldn't happen. Mistakes can happen, but that one should be avoided. That's why we lost a good of 20 minutes of important practice time. In the end, we were also unlucky when I was on a good lap towards the end of FP1. Unfortunately, a careless competitor messed it up. Things continued in qualifying, we had a lot of problems to deal with. The bike is not behaving the way I want it to at the moment. The situation is disappointing, and I hope we can find something for tomorrow that will help us to move forward."
