Nach einem unglücklichen Freitag und Samstag gab Marcel Schrötter im zweiten Rennen auf dem legendären TT Circuit in den Niederlanden Vollgas, fuhr die schnellste Rennrunde und wurde Sechster.

Am Sonntagmorgen war das Wetter wieder einmal sehr typisch für Assen. Ein Umschwung sorgte für einen Regenschauer. Das zehnminütige Warm-up war aufgrund von Mischbedingungen auf der Strecke wertlos. Wie viele andere blieb auch Marcel Schrötter in der Box.

Die Bedingungen waren am Nachmittag wieder klar, als das Starterfeld der mittleren Kategorie der seriennahen Weltmeisterschaft die letzten Vorbereitungen für den sechsten Saisonlauf traf, den Schrötter aus der fünften Startreihe in Angriff nahm. Schon in der ersten Runde machte der Deutsche drei Positionen gut und nahm dann weitere Gegner ins Visier. Mit einer konstant starken Pace arbeitete er sich immer weiter nach vorne, bis Schrötter im letzten Renndrittel auf Podiumskurs lag, bevor ihn drei Runden vor Schluss sein Vorderreifen im Stich liess. Zuvor knallte der 32-Jährige auf seiner Ducati die schnellste Rennrunde auf den Asphalt.

Die FIM Supersport World Championship 2025 geht in drei Wochen auf der Rennstrecke von Cremona in Norditalien in die nächste Runde.

«Ich bin zufrieden, es war definitiv ein gutes Rennen von mir. Aber vor allem freue ich mich über das Gefühl, das ich mit dem Motorrad hatte und auch darüber, wie konkurrenzfähig wir waren. Ich denke, die schnellste Rennrunde sagt alles aus. Leider war der Vorderreifen am Ende komplett platt. Ich habe nur versucht, nicht zu stürzen. Leider war das das Problem, weshalb ich nicht mehr mithalten konnte. Es ist ein bisschen enttäuschend, denn ich denke, wir hätten heute um das Podium kämpfen können. Wir hatten sogar Chancen auf einen Podiumsplatz, denn ich hatte das Gefühl, dass ich der Spitzengruppe nicht nur folgen, sondern sie auch einholen könnte. Wenn schon, denn schon, es hat nicht ganz gereicht. Aber das kommt davon, wenn man keine gute Grundabstimmung hat und sich am Rennwochenende nicht voll auf das Setting konzentriert, sondern zu grosse Dinge sucht und verändert. Man weiss nie, was am Ende dabei herauskommt.»

«Das müssen wir in Zukunft ändern oder verbessern. Wir brauchen eine Grundlage, die uns bessere Referenzen liefert. Aber das ist noch nicht alles. Wir brauchen auch ein bisschen mehr Power aus den Kurven heraus. Denn wenn man ständig zu weit weg ist, um zu attackieren, muss man mehr mit dem Vorderrad machen. Im Grossen und Ganzen bin ich heute ein gutes Rennen gefahren, und wenn der Vorderreifen einbricht, dann kann man nicht viel machen. Ich bin froh, dass ich auf dem Motorrad sitzengeblieben bin und es nach Hause gebracht habe, zumal es ein zweistelliges Punkteergebnis war. Aber es war auch wichtig, das Gefühl zurückzubekommen, schnell zu sein, und dem Team ein wenig Auftrieb zu geben. Wir wissen, dass wir weiter pushen müssen, um wieder auf das Podium zu kommen. Natürlich war Assen wieder nicht das Wochenende, das ich erwartet hatte, aber der Rennsport ist kein Wunschkonzert. Es ist wichtig, dass wir mit einem kleinen Highlight nach Hause fahren und die Dinge anpacken, die angegangen werden müssen, damit wir in Cremona von Anfang an konkurrenzfähiger sind. Das hoffe ich wirklich.»

EN: Little highlight at the end in Assen

After an unlucky Friday and Saturday, Marcel Schrötter put in a blistering pace in the second race at the legendary TT Circuit in the Netherlands, setting the fastest race lap and finishing sixth.

On Sunday morning, the weather was once again very typical for Assen. A turnaround caused a rain shower. The ten-minute warm-up was worthless due to mixed conditions on track. Like many others, Marcel Schrötter stayed in the pits.

The conditions were clear again in the afternoon as the starting field in the middle category of the production-based World Championship made its final preparations for the sixth race of the season, which Schrötter tackled from the fifth row of the grid. The German made up three positions on the very first lap and then set his sights on other opponents. With a consistently strong pace, he continued to work his way forward until Schrötter was on course for a podium in the final third of the race, before his front tyre let him down three laps before the end. The 32-year-old had previously set the fastest race lap on his Ducati.

The 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship enters the next round in three weeks at the Cremona circuit in northern Italy.

«I am satisfied; it was definitely a good race. But most of all I am happy about the feeling I had with the bike and also about how competitive we were. I think the fastest race lap says it all. Unfortunately, the front tyre was completely down at the end. I was just trying not to crash. Unfortunately, that was the problem, which is why I could not keep up fighting. It is a bit disappointing because I think we could have fought for the podium today. We even had a chance to stay there, because I had the feeling that I could not only follow the leading group but also catch them. If nothing else, it was not quite enough. But that is what happens when you do not have a good basic set-up and do not fully concentrate on the setting during the race weekend but instead look for and change too many things. You never know what the end result will be.»

«We need to change or improve this in the future. We need a base that provides us with better references. But that is not all. We also need a bit more power out of the corners. Because if you are constantly too far away to attack, you have to push more the front. All in all, I did a good race today and if the front tyre breaks, there is not much you can do. I am glad I stayed on the bike and brought it home, especially as it was a double-digit points result. But it was also important to get back the feeling of being fast and to give the team a little boost. We know that we have to keep pushing to get back on the podium. Of course, Assen was again not the weekend I had expected, but racing is not a wishful thinking business. It is important that we go home with a small highlight and tackle the things that need to be addressed so that we are more competitive from the start in Cremona. I really hope so.»
