Marcel Schrötter muss weiterhin auf die seit einiger Zeit erwarteten Fortschritte hoffen. Die Superpole beim Comeback der Serie in Ungarn beendete er auf dem 14. Platz.

Runde acht der FIM Supersport World Championship bringt die Teams und Fahrer zum Plattensee, wo der Balaton Park Circuit, etwa 100km südwestlich von Budapest gelegen, an diesem Wochenende wegen seiner ersten internationalen Veranstaltung im Rampenlicht steht.

Marcel Schrötter und sein Team WRP Racing haben den 4 Kilometer langen Rundkurs vor einem Monat kennengelernt. Im Gegensatz zu einigen seiner Konkurrenten hatte der 32-jährige Ducati-Pilot einen soliden Start in das Wochenende und belegte den neunten Platz im freien Training.

Die heissen Temperaturen am Nachmittag waren jedoch erneut mitunter ein Grund für das bescheidene Abschneiden in der Superpole. Schrötter muss das erste Rennen des Wochenendes aus der fünften Reihe in Angriff nehmen.

Startzeit für den 15. Saisonlauf am Samstag ist 15:15 Uhr MESZ.

«Leider hat sich die Situation nicht geändert. Ich bin nach Ungarn gekommen, in der Hoffnung, hier Fortschritte zu sehen. Aber wie die Ergebnisse zeigen, müssen wir uns verbessern. Wir hatten ein paar Ideen, aber sie haben nicht den erwünschten Erfolg gebracht. Die Situation ist für mich sehr energieraubend, weil ich mich in Bezug auf meine Zukunft beweisen muss. Wir sind mit dem Ziel in die Saison gestartet, mit dem Ducati-Paket zumindest um die ersten drei Plätze in der Weltmeisterschaft kämpfen zu können, wenn nicht sogar um den Titel. Ich hoffe, dass bald Fortschritte eintreten. Im Moment kann ich immer nur mein Bestes geben und hoffen, dass wir sehen, wo die Reise hingeht.»

«Was die Strecke angeht, kann ich die Verantwortlichen nur für das loben, was sie in der kurzen Zeit seit den Tests mit dem Asphalt gemacht haben. Der Belag ist in einem guten Zustand, obwohl ich vermute, dass er an einigen Stellen etwas brüchig wird. Aber aus Erfahrung weiss man, dass es im Hochsommer, bei täglichen Temperaturen über 30 Grad und wenig Zeit zum Aushärten, eine schwierige Aufgabe ist. Das Layout ist, wie es ist. Aufgrund der vielen Schikanen, die später hinzugefügt wurden, ist es einfach nicht die schönste Strecke zum Motorradfahren. Ansonsten finde ich die Anlage hier wirklich toll.»

EN: No easy start at the new Balaton Park Circuit

Marcel Schrötter has to keep hoping for the progress that has been expected since time. In Superpole at the series’ comeback to Hungary he ended up in 14th place.

Round eight of this year’s FIM Supersport World Championship brings teams and rider to Lake Balaton, where the Balaton Park Circuit, located approx. 100km southwest of Budapest, is in the spotlights this weekend because of its inaugural international event.

Marcel Schrötter and his team WRP Racing got to know the 4-kilometer track a month ago. Unlike some of his competitors, the 32-year-old Ducati rider got off to a solid start into the weekend, finishing in nineth place after the only free practice session on Friday morning.

However, hot temperatures in the afternoon were once again a factor for the modest position he reached in Superpole. Schrötter has to start the first race of the weekend from P14 on fifth row.

The lights will go out for race No. 15 of the season on Saturday afternoon at 15:15 CEST.

«Unfortunately, the situation has not changed. I came to Hungary with the hopes that we see progress. But as the results show, we still need to improve. We had a few ideas in our heads, but they did not bring the desired success. The situation is very energy-sapping for me because I have to prove myself in terms of my future. We headed into the season with the goal of being able to fight for a top three position in the championship with our Ducati package at least, if not for the title. So, I hope that progress will be made soon. At the moment, I only can do my best every time and hope that we will see where to journey takes us.»

«As far as the track is concerned, I only can praise those responsible for what they have done with the surface in the short time since the tests last month because it is in good conditions, although I suspect that it is becoming a bit brittle in some places. But the experience tells us that it is a difficult task in the heat of midsummer with daily temperatures above 30 degrees and less time for hardening after partly re-surfacing. The layout is what it is. Due to the many chicanes that were added later, simply it is not the most beautiful track for motorcycle racing. Otherwise, I think the facility here is really nice.»
