Die dritte Station der FIM Supersport World Championship ist an diesem Wochenende der TT Circuit von Assen, wo das Wetter ein entscheidender Faktor sein kann.

Marcel Schrötter ist mit vier Podiumsplätzen in die neue Meisterschaft gestartet und kommt als Gesamtzweiter zum Rennwochenende in den Norden der Niederlande, wo er aufgrund der Nähe zu Deutschland mit der Unterstützung vieler deutscher Fans rechnen kann. In Barcelona verpasste er im Sonntagsrennen nur knapp seinen ersten Sieg in der Supersport-Weltmeisterschaft. Der längst fällige Triumph soll in Assen gelingen, wo Schrötter schon oft starke Ergebnisse erzielt hat.

An der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Gesamtpakets mit der schönen italienischen MV Agusta F3 gibt es keinen Zweifel. Lediglich die Wettervorhersage für das Wochenende bereitet dem 31-jährigen Motorradrennprofi aus Bayern ein wenig Kopfzerbrechen. Nach hochsommerlichem Wetter beim Saisonauftakt in Australien und vor vier Wochen in Barcelona werden diesmal sehr kalte Temperaturen erwartet. Schrötter wird in Assen von seinem Kumpel Jonas Folger begleitet, der ihm mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stehen wird.

"Nach einer weiteren langen Pause bin ich sehr motiviert und froh, dass das nächste Rennwochenende vor der Tür steht. Assen Mitte April ist vielleicht nicht der beste Zeitpunkt für ein Motorradrennen dort, aber ich kann es nicht ändern und die Wettervorhersage für diese Woche ist für ganz Mitteleuropa sehr bescheiden. Bei uns in Bayern besteht sogar die Chance auf einen kleinen Wintereinbruch. Also hoffe ich, dass es am Wochenende wenigstens trocken bleibt, auch wenn wir mit sehr niedrigen Temperaturen rechnen müssen. Hoffentlich bleiben wir von nasskaltem Wetter und durchwachsenen Bedingungen verschont."

"Außerdem waren die Regentrainings, die ich bisher auf der MV Agusta absolviert habe, nicht die besten. Deshalb wäre es mir lieber, wenn es trocken bliebe, damit wir ein gutes Rennwochenende haben können. Aber das Wichtigste ist, dass wir konzentriert bleiben und unsere Arbeit fortsetzen. Das Ziel ist natürlich, auf dem Podium zu landen und immer vorne dabei zu sein. Ich bin auch froh, dass Jonas wieder einmal dabei ist und mich unterstützt. In bestimmten Dingen ist es eine große Hilfe, jemanden wie ihn zu haben, der viel Erfahrung hat. Als Rennfahrer, der sicherlich noch die Fähigkeiten hat, MotoGP zu fahren, sieht er die Dinge und hat auch Ideen für das Setting oder als Beobachter an der Strecke. Ich denke, es ist cool, so einen Kumpel zu haben und ich danke ihm für seine Hilfe."

Round three of this year’s FIM Supersport World Championship visits this weekend the iconic TT Circuit of Assen, where the weather can be a decisive factor.

Marcel Schrötter has started the new championship with four podium finishes and comes to the race weekend in the north of the Netherlands in second place overall, where he can count on the support of many German fans due to his proximity to Germany. In Barcelona, he only just missed out on his first victory in Supersport World Championship in Sunday's race. The long-overdue triumph should come in Assen, where Schrötter has often achieved strong results in his career.

There is no doubt about the competitiveness of the overall package with the beautiful Italian MV Agusta F3. Only the weather forecast for the weekend is giving the 31-year-old motorcycle racing pro from Bavaria a bit of a headache. After midsummer weather at the season opener in Australia and four weeks ago in Barcelona, chilly temperatures are to be expect this time. Schrötter will be accompanied in Assen by his buddy Jonas Folger, who will be on hand to give him advice and support.

"After another long break, I am very motivated and happy that the next race weekend is just around the corner. Assen in mid-April is perhaps not the best time for motorcycle racing there, but I cannot help it and the weather forecast for this week is not so modest for the whole of Central Europe. Here in Bavaria, there is even a chance of a little bit of winter again. So, I hope it at least stays dry all weekend, even if we have to expect very low temperatures. Hopefully we will be spared cold, wet weather and mixed conditions."

"What is more, the rain practice sessions I have done on the MV Agusta so far have not been the best. That is why I would prefer dry conditions so that we can have a good race weekend. But the most important thing is that we stay focused and continue our work. The goal is of course to finish on the podium and always be at the front. I am really glad that Jonas is with me again and supports me. In certain things, it is a great help to have someone like him who has a lot of experience. As a racer who certainly still has the skills to ride MotoGP, he sees things and also has ideas for the setting or as a coach at the track. I think it is cool to have a buddy like that and I thank him for his help."
